Daily Bread

Your Word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.

(Psalm 119:105)

For me, the above stained glass window at St. David's calls to mind the above verse from Psalm 119.  This short and simple verse is easy to memorize and can evoke a variety of thoughts and emotions:
   *  It provides one a sense of comfort in the darkness.
   *  It grants one a sense of courage in the face of fear.
   *  It bestows on one a sense of peace amidst turmoil.
   *  It endows one with a sense of calm in anxious moments.
   *  It offers one a sense of guidance through troubling times.
   *  It gives one a sense confidence
that you are not traveling alone.

All of this from a short and simple verse.

But sometimes, ... that's enough and all you need.

This contemporary Christian classic by Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith has comforted countless people with the assurance of God's guidance through life.  I hope the song can provide you with the same comfort and assurance during these troubling times.

"When I feel afraid
Think I've lost my way
Still you're there right beside me
And nothing will I fear
As long as you are near
Please be near me to the end
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path"

Daily Prayer

O Lord, your Word is a lamp unto my feet.
Show me the way in the darkness,
illuminating the path you have chosen for me.
When I’m uncertain and afraid,
    fill me with your strength,
reminding me you are by my side.
Help me to trust in you, O Lord,
knowing you will lead me through the darkness
    and into your light.
Lead me, Lord, and show me your way,
    this day and always.

Amen.
